82 µH shielded drum core for automotive power rails
The Coilcraft LPS6235-823MRC is a shielded drum core inductor in the LPS6235 series, rated 82 µH ±20% with a continuous current of 720 mA and a saturation current floor of 460 mA. The 315 mOhm max DCR sets the I²R conduction loss at full rated current to about 163 mW — the 2424 (6060 Metric) footprint and 3.5 mm seated height dissipate this without exceeding the ferrite core's Curie temperature.
Saturation margin and self-resonant ceiling
The 460 mA saturation current is the DC bias at which inductance drops 10% typical — for a 720 mA rated part, this means the inductor is sized for applications where the peak transient current stays below 460 mA to hold the 82 µH value within the regulator's loop compensation. Self-resonant frequency is 10 MHz, so the useful inductance rolls off above roughly 1–2 MHz in a buck converter — the part is best suited for switching frequencies below 500 kHz where the core loss stays manageable. Inductance is tested at 100 kHz, which is the standard measurement frequency for power inductors in this value range.
