AEC-Q200 qualified for automotive power filtering
The Coilcraft LPS6235-225MRC is an active-production shielded drum core inductor rated for 2.2 mH at 100 kHz test frequency, with a ±20% tolerance.
Current handling and saturation headroom
Rated for 160 mA continuous current with a saturation current of 90 mA. The saturation current is the hard ceiling for the DC bias — above 90 mA the inductance drops by at least 10%, and the filter or converter the inductor is in starts losing regulation. The 6.7 Ohm maximum DCR sets the resistive loss at 160 mA to around 170 mW; in a 2424 package that heat must be conducted through the board copper, not just the component body.
Self-resonant frequency and operating band
The self-resonant frequency is 1.5 MHz. Below that frequency the component behaves as an inductor; near or above it the parasitic capacitance dominates and the impedance rolls off. For a buck converter switching at 500 kHz, the 1.5 MHz SRF provides enough margin that the inductor stays inductive across the fundamental and the first few harmonics.
