Active production, shielded drum core
The Coilcraft LPS5015-472MRC is an active-production shielded drum core inductor in the LPS5015 series, rated for 4.7 µH ±20% with a 1.2 A continuous current and a 1.6 A saturation current. The ferrite core and full magnetic shielding keep the field contained, so you can place it near other magnetics or a metal enclosure without worrying about coupling or eddy-current losses.
Rated current and DC resistance fit check
At 1.2 A rated current and a 150 mOhm max DCR, the I²R loss is about 216 mW — well within the power dissipation of a 5×5 mm shielded package for most board-level POL converters or filter chokes. The saturation current of 1.6 A gives a 33% margin above the rated current before inductance drops off, which covers transient peaks in a buck regulator output stage.
Temperature grade and self-resonant frequency
The self-resonant frequency of 73 MHz means the inductive impedance holds up well into the tens of MHz — useful for switching regulators switching at 1–2 MHz where the SRF is well above the fundamental.
