1.3 µH shielded inductor for DC-DC and filtering
The Coilcraft LPS5015-132MRC is a 1.3 µH shielded drum core inductor rated for 1.7 A continuous current with a saturation floor of 2.5 A.
Saturation headroom and frequency ceiling
The 2.5 A saturation current sits 47 % above the 1.7 A rated current, giving a healthy margin for transient load steps in a point-of-load converter — the inductance holds its value until the peak current crosses 2.5 A, after which it rolls off gradually (typical ferrite-core behavior). Self-resonant frequency is 150 MHz, well above the 1-10 MHz switching range of most buck regulators that would use a 1.3 µH inductor — the part behaves as a pure inductor across the converter's fundamental and first few harmonics, with capacitive parasitics only appearing above 100 MHz. Inductance is tested at 100 kHz, the standard frequency for power inductor characterization — the value at 1 MHz will be slightly lower due to core losses, but within the ±20 % tolerance band for a well-designed ferrite.
