10 µH shielded drum core for DC-DC input/output filtering
The Coilcraft LPS5015-103MRC is a 10 µH shielded drum-core inductor in the LPS5015 series, rated for 800 mA continuous current with a saturation floor of 1.2 A before inductance rolls off. The 300 mOhm max DCR sets the DC copper loss at 192 mW at full rated current — budget this into the thermal design for the 5x5 mm footprint. Shielded construction contains the magnetic flux within the ferrite core, reducing radiated EMI into adjacent power-stage or signal traces on the same board layer.
Current rating and saturation headroom for transient loads
Rated 800 mA at 10 µH — the 1.2 A saturation current provides 50 % headroom above the DC rating, enough to handle load transients typical of a buck converter output stage without inductance collapse. The self-resonant frequency of 44 MHz means the inductor behaves as a pure inductive element up to roughly 10 MHz — above that, the winding capacitance resonates and the impedance turns capacitive. Inductance is tested at 100 kHz, the standard test frequency for power inductors in this value range; the actual inductance at the switching frequency of a 500 kHz to 2 MHz converter will be close to the 10 µH nominal.
5x5 mm footprint fits low-profile power supplies
Surface-mount on a nonstandard pad layout — the datasheet footprint drawing should be followed for solder fillet and thermal relief; the ferrite core does not require a thermal pad beneath the part.
