18 µH shielded inductor for DC-DC rail filtering
The Coilcraft LPS3015-183MRC is a shielded ferrite-core power inductor rated 18 µH at 100 kHz test frequency, ±20% tolerance. It delivers 580 mA continuous current with a saturation floor of 590 mA — the saturation knee sits just above the rated current, so the inductance holds flat across the operating range until you hit the limit. Maximum DC resistance is 750 mOhm, which sets the copper loss at full rated current to about 252 mW — a manageable figure for a 1.5 mm tall part, but worth checking against the board's thermal budget in a dense layout.
AEC-Q200 and the 125 °C ceiling
The operating range spans -40 °C to 125 °C, so it handles engine-bay ambient without derating the current. The part is sourced through authorized and independent distribution; lead time and pricing are confirmed at RFQ.
Self-resonant frequency and band limits
The self-resonant frequency is 33 MHz. Above that point the inductor behaves capacitively, so for a buck converter switching at 2 MHz you have about a decade of headroom before parasitic effects dominate. Below 33 MHz the impedance follows the expected inductive slope. The shielded ferrite core contains the magnetic field within the package — useful when the inductor sits near sensitive analog traces or RF front-ends on the same board layer.
