Shielded 15 µH power inductor for automotive DC-DC converters
The Coilcraft LPS3015-153MRC is a shielded ferrite-core power inductor rated 15 µH at 100 kHz test frequency, with a continuous current rating of 590 mA and a saturation current floor of 620 mA. The 700 mOhm maximum DCR drives the I²R conduction loss; at 590 mA the self-heating adds roughly 0.24 W, which the 2.95 mm × 2.95 mm footprint must dissipate through the board copper.
Self-resonant frequency and switching converter margin
The 35 MHz self-resonant frequency gives headroom for switching converters running up to a few megahertz — the inductor's impedance stays inductive well above the switching fundamental, avoiding capacitive crossover that would increase ripple.
