TVS diode with 1500 W peak pulse and AEC-Q101 qualification
The Bourns 1.5SMBJ58A is a 1500 W peak-pulse-power Zener TVS diode in the 1.5SMBJ series, qualified to AEC-Q101 for automotive-grade reliability. The 58 V reverse standoff voltage (VRWM) means it starts clamping above the 58 V rail — sized for 48 V nominal systems or 48 V battery lines where transients ride on top of the DC bus. Breakdown occurs at 64.4 V minimum (VBR), and the clamping voltage at the 16.1 A peak-pulse current (10/1000 µs waveform) is 93.6 V max. The 1500 W rating holds for that standard 10/1000 µs surge — derate for shorter or longer pulse widths per the Bourns application note.
Automotive temperature grade and package fit
The DO-214AA (SMB) surface-mount package mates with standard SMB footprints; the supplier device package is SMB (DO-214AA). This is the standard gate for engine-control units, transmission controllers, and body-electronics modules that see repetitive load-dump or inductive-load transients.
Active lifecycle and sourcing posture
No pin-compatible second-source is listed on the Bourns cross-reference, so the BOM line is single-sourced to this order code.
