Automotive-grade qualification and temperature envelope
The 1.5SMBJ51A-H: Qualified to AEC-Q101, the automotive discrete semiconductor stress-test standard — this part is screened for reliability under the temperature, humidity, and bias conditions typical of under-hood and cabin electronics. Operating junction temperature range spans -55°C to +150°C, covering the full automotive temperature grade and providing margin for high-ambient environments such as engine bays or transmission control modules.
Clamping performance and peak pulse current
The 82.4 V maximum clamping voltage at 18.2 A peak pulse current (10/1000 µs waveform) defines the voltage a downstream IC sees during a transient — a 51 V rail protected by this TVS will be clamped below 82.4 V, which must stay within the absolute maximum rating of the powered devices. With 1.5 kW peak pulse power handling, this part absorbs high-energy surges such as load-dump or inductive kickback without failing short, provided the energy stays within the device's rated pulse derating curve.
