Package and mounting
The Maxim MX7523JCWE+ is an 8-bit voltage-output DAC built around an R-2R resistor ladder architecture. It converts a parallel digital word into an unbuffered voltage output, settling to within 1/2 LSB in 200 ns.
Supply and reference — one rail, one external ref
Both the analog and digital supplies share the same 5 V to 16 V range, so a single rail powers the whole DAC — no separate AVDD/DVDD sequencing needed. The R-2R architecture requires an external reference voltage (not provided on-chip), which sets the full-scale output range. That gives the designer control over the output span, but it also means the reference must be clean and stable to maintain accuracy. The unbuffered voltage output has a resistive output impedance equal to the R-2R ladder's Thevenin equivalent (typically a few kΩ), so plan on an external op-amp if you need to drive a low-impedance load or a long cable.
Temperature grade and environment
Rated for 0°C to 70°C commercial operation, this DAC belongs in office equipment, benchtop instruments, appliance controllers, and indoor test gear — not in a motor drive cabinet or under-hood automotive environment. The 16-SOIC package is surface-mount, so it fits standard PCB assembly flows.
Sourcing and lifecycle
No end-of-life notice or last-time-buy window is in effect — this part is available for new designs and ongoing production BOMs.
