Current sense, not general-purpose — the bandwidth tells you where it fits
The MAX9922EUB+ is a single-channel current sense amplifier from Analog Devices, built to amplify the voltage across a shunt resistor with a 10 kHz -3 dB bandwidth. That 10 kHz ceiling means this part is suited for DC and low-frequency AC current monitoring — motor phase currents at line frequency, battery charge/discharge profiles, or power-supply output monitoring — but not for switching-frequency ripple above a few kilohertz. The 0.4 V/µs slew rate is consistent with the bandwidth; the output settles cleanly into a 10 kHz signal path without slew-induced distortion.
0.1 µV offset and 1 pA bias — the precision side of the part
Input offset voltage is 0.1 µV typical, which translates to sub-milliamp error in a 1 mΩ shunt at 1 A — the dominant error term in the measurement is the shunt tolerance, not the amplifier. Input bias current of 1 pA means the amplifier does not load the sense node; a 1 kΩ series protection resistor in the sense line drops only 1 nV, negligible in any practical system. Supply current is 780 µA — low enough to leave the amplifier powered continuously in a battery-monitoring circuit without draining the pack during idle periods.
