Stereo audio codec with sigma-delta converters for portable and embedded audio
The MAX9880AETM+T is a stereo audio codec from Analog Devices, built around sigma-delta modulation for the ADC and DAC paths. It integrates two ADCs and two DACs, giving you a full stereo record-and-playback channel. The digital interface supports I²C, I²S, Serial, and SPI, so it can connect to a host MCU or DSP over a standard audio serial bus or a control register bus. Supply rails are tight: both analog and digital supplies run from 1.65 V to 1.95 V, which suits low-voltage portable designs. Operating temperature covers -40°C to 85°C, making it usable in industrial environments as well as consumer gear. The package is a 48-lead TQFN with exposed pad (6x6 mm), surface-mount only.
Dynamic range — what the 82 / 96 dB numbers mean for your audio path
The ADC dynamic range is rated at 82 dB typical, the DAC at 96 dB.
Lifecycle and sourcing — active, no obsolescence risk
