10W mono Class D amp for automotive audio
AEC-Q100 qualification means this part has passed the full suite of automotive stress tests — temperature cycling, ESD, and extended life — so it is rated for the -40°C to +85°C ambient range typical of cabin and under-dash locations. The 24-TQFN (4x4 mm) exposed-pad package keeps the footprint small for space-constrained PCB layouts, and the exposed pad helps thermal dissipation when driving continuous audio power.
I²C volume control and mute — what they mean for the BOM
The MAX9768BETG/V+T integrates I²C volume control, mute, depop, and shutdown — all controlled over the same two-wire bus. That eliminates a separate volume pot, mute transistor, and click-suppression RC network from the BOM. The depop circuit suppresses turn-on/turn-off transients, so no external muting relay is needed. Short-circuit and thermal protection are built in, which means the amplifier can survive a speaker-wire short or sustained high-power operation without latching up or failing — useful for automotive lines where the load is not always known at design time.
