Product details

Class D mono amplifier with automotive qualification

The MAX9768BETG/V+ is a Class D mono audio amplifier from Analog Devices rated for 10W continuous output into an 8Ω load from a single speaker channel. The 4.5V to 14V supply range covers a 12V automotive battery rail during both cranking dips and charging peaks without needing an external pre-regulator.

Integrated volume control and protection

The I²C interface allows digital volume control and mute, eliminating a separate potentiometer or codec from the audio path. On-chip depop circuitry suppresses the turn-on thump that would otherwise couple through the speaker when the supply rail comes up. Short-circuit and thermal protection shut down the output stage before the die exceeds the 150°C junction limit — the scorch mark tells you the protection saved the board, not that the amp failed.

Package and thermal interface

The 24-TQFN (4x4mm) package with exposed pad requires a thermal via array under the paddle to pull heat into the PCB ground plane — without it the 10W output derates above 70°C ambient.
