Class D amplifier with configurable output topology
The MAX9736BETJ+ is a Class D audio power amplifier from Analog Devices that delivers 15W into a 4Ω load in mono mode or 7.5W per channel into 8Ω loads in stereo mode — the same IC serves single-speaker or dual-speaker designs without a separate part number change. The 8V to 28V supply range means it runs from a regulated 12V rail in automotive infotainment or from a 24V industrial bus supply, with headroom for audio peaks without clipping into the supply limit.
Protection features and package integration
On-chip depop circuitry suppresses the turn-on thump that otherwise couples through the speaker, and the mute function holds the output in a high-impedance state during power-up sequencing — both reduce the external RC timing network a discrete solution would need. Short-circuit protection on the output stage and thermal shutdown with auto-recovery mean the amplifier survives a speaker-wire short or a blocked-vent enclosure without latching off or damaging the load.
Lifecycle and compliance status
ROHS3 compliant and supplied in tray packaging — the tray format is typical for prototype quantities and low-volume production; for reel packaging the buyer should confirm the alternate order code at RFQ.
