Serializer for short-reach chip-to-chip links
The MAX9235ETE+ is a 10-bit serializer from Analog Devices that takes parallel LVCMOS or LVTTL data and serializes it onto a single LVDS differential pair at up to 450 Mbps. This is the part to reach for when you need to reduce the number of traces between a camera sensor, ADC, or baseband processor and a remote receiver across a short backplane or flex cable — the serial link cuts the interconnect count from 10 lines plus clock down to one differential pair.
Data rate and channel count for the link budget
With 10 parallel inputs and a single LVDS output, the MAX9235ETE+ serializes at a 10:1 ratio. The 450 Mbps serial data rate means each parallel input is sampled at up to 45 MHz — fast enough for most mid-speed image sensors, ADCs running below 40 MSPS, or parallel bus interfaces. The LVDS output swings 350 mV typical into a 100-ohm termination, keeping EMI low and signal integrity clean over 10-20 cm of PCB trace or a short ribbon cable.
Supply rails and IO logic levels
The input logic threshold tracks the supply — LVCMOS levels at 3.3 V are well within the 0.8 V / 2.0 V VIH/VIL window. The LVDS output meets the TIA/EIA-644 standard, so it mates directly with any standard LVDS receiver without external level shifting.
