Dual comparator for low-power threshold and zero-crossing detection
The Maxim Integrated MAX922ESA+ is a dual, general-purpose comparator in an 8-SOIC package. It compares two analog input voltages against a reference and drives a CMOS or TTL logic output. Typical applications include battery monitors, over-voltage/under-voltage detectors, window comparators, and zero-crossing circuits in industrial control and portable instrumentation.
Supply range and 5 V compatibility
Rated for single supplies from 2.5 V to 11 V, or dual supplies ±1.25 V to ±5.5 V. A 5 V single supply sits right in the middle of the range, so no level-shifting or extra regulation is needed on a 5 V logic rail. The 10 mV max input offset at 5 V is adequate for threshold detection where a few millivolts of trip-point error is acceptable.
80 dB CMRR and PSRR — noise rejection in industrial environments
Both common-mode and power-supply rejection are rated at 80 dB typical. That keeps the comparator from false-triggering when the input signal rides on a noisy ground or the supply dips during a motor start.
Sourcing and lifecycle
The MAX922ESA+ carries an Active product status and is ROHS3 compliant. No end-of-life notice or last-time-buy window is on record.
