1:2 LVDS fan-out — what it does and where it fits
The MAX9174EUB+ from Analog Devices is a single-channel 1:2 LVDS buffer and multiplexer. It takes one LVDS input and routes it to one of two LVDS outputs, or fans the signal to both outputs simultaneously. This is the part you reach for when a high-speed serial link needs to drive two destinations — a second connector, a test point, or a redundant receiver — without degrading the signal edge. Rated for 800 Mbps with a 2.39 ns propagation delay, it preserves timing margin in source-synchronous LVDS links. The 4.5 pF input capacitance keeps the load light on the driving device. Supply range is 3V to 3.6V, drawing 25 mA typical. The industrial temperature grade (-40°C to 85°C) suits outdoor telecom cabinets, factory-floor Ethernet switches, and motor-drive feedback interfaces where ambient heat is a given.
Package and footprint
Housed in a 10-pin TFSOP/MSOP package (3.00 mm width, 0.118" pitch), the MAX9174EUB+ is a surface-mount part that fits tight board layouts. The supplier device package is 10-uMAX/uSOP — same footprint, different supplier code. No thermal pad to worry about; standard reflow profile for MSOP-10 works fine.
Lifecycle and compliance
ROHS3 compliant.
