Comparator with latch — 14 ns propagation delay
The MAX913EPA+ is a single high-speed comparator with an integrated latch, in an 8-pin DIP through-hole package. The 14 ns max propagation delay sets the ceiling for the signal frequency it can cleanly compare — above roughly 35 MHz the output may not settle before the next edge, so budget this into the timing closure for a high-speed threshold detector or zero-crossing circuit. The complementary TTL output drives directly into a 5 V logic input without a level translator, but the 20 mA typical output current limits fan-out — a single TTL load is fine; a heavily loaded bus may need a buffer.
CMRR and PSRR — noise rejection for precision thresholds
110 dB CMRR and 100 dB PSRR mean the comparator's trip point shifts less than 3 µV per volt of common-mode or supply variation — relevant when the reference is a precision voltage and the input signal rides on a noisy ground. The 2 mV max input offset at ±5 V and 5 µA max input bias are typical for a high-speed bipolar comparator; the bias current matters when the source impedance exceeds a few kilo-ohms, because it adds an offset proportional to the source resistance.
ROHS3 compliant, so it passes the current EU restriction on hazardous substances without an exemption.
