Ultra-low-power comparator with on-chip reference
The MAX9062EBS+TG45 is a single-element comparator that integrates a voltage reference on-chip, eliminating the need for an external reference resistor divider in threshold-detection circuits. It operates from a 1V to 5.5V supply rail, suiting single-cell battery or regulated 3.3V/5V logic rails in portable and industrial designs. Quiescent current maxes out at 1.1µA — the comparator's own draw is negligible in a battery-powered sensor node that spends most of its life in sleep, waking only to check a threshold crossing. The open-drain output lets multiple comparators wire-OR onto a shared interrupt line.
Supply range and signal chain fit
The 1V minimum supply allows the comparator to run directly from a near-depleted alkaline cell or a 1.2V NiMH battery without a boost converter. At the top end, 5.5V covers standard 5V logic rails with margin for ripple. Input bias current is 60pA max at 3.3V, so the comparator does not load high-impedance sources like thermistors or photodiode amplifiers. The ±12mV hysteresis prevents output chatter when the input signal sits near the threshold — the band is wide enough to reject noise on a slow-moving analog signal but narrow enough to keep the trip point accurate for a 1% resistor divider. Propagation delay is 15µs max — fast enough for overvoltage/undervoltage lockout on a power rail or a battery-low indicator, but not for high-speed PWM cycle-by-cycle current limiting. The 53dB PSRR means supply transients couple weakly into the comparison; a 100mV ripple on the 3.3V rail shifts the internal threshold by roughly 0.2mV.
4-UCSP footprint and board integration
The 4-WFBGA package measures 1.05x1.05mm (4-UCSP), a 4-ball array with 0.5mm pitch. The small footprint fits into space-constrained designs like in-ear monitors, coin-cell sensor tags, or compact battery-management PCBs. The CSPBGA alternative designation means the same land pattern. Surface-mount assembly with tape-and-reel or cut-tape options — the reel quantity suits volume production; cut tape works for prototype runs.
