Single comparator with on-chip voltage reference
The MAX9050BEUK+T from Analog Devices is a single comparator that integrates a voltage reference on-chip, eliminating the need for an external reference diode in precision threshold-detection circuits. The output stage supports CMOS, push-pull, rail-to-rail, and TTL logic levels, so it drives digital inputs directly without a pull-up resistor.
Parametric limits that govern the threshold accuracy
Built-in hysteresis of ±3 mV prevents output chatter when the input signal crosses the threshold slowly, without requiring external positive feedback resistors. Propagation delay is 450 ns maximum — fast enough for overcurrent detection in switching regulators running at a few hundred kilohertz, but not for cycle-by-cycle current limiting in MHz-range converters.
Supply current and output drive
Quiescent current is 100 µA maximum, suiting battery-powered threshold monitors that run continuously. Typical output sink/source capability is 8 mA, enough to drive an LED indicator or a low-power optocoupler input directly. Common-mode rejection and power-supply rejection are both 80 dB typical, so the threshold accuracy holds up when the supply rail droops or the common-mode voltage shifts.

Housed in a 5-pin SOT-23 (SC-74A) surface-mount package — the same footprint as many generic single comparators, so a board layout designed for an LMV331 or TLV3011 accepts this part with no change.
