Dual comparator with 4 mV hysteresis in SOT-23-8
The MAX9032AKA+T is a dual general-purpose comparator from Analog Devices, packing two independent comparators into an 8-pin SOT-23-8 package. Each channel delivers a push-pull, rail-to-rail output stage, so no external pull-up resistor is needed on the output — the output swings from rail to rail directly, saving a component and a PCB trace. With 4 mV of built-in hysteresis, the part rejects noise on slowly moving input signals that would otherwise cause the output to chatter near the threshold. The 228 ns typical propagation delay sets the upper bound on how fast the comparator can respond to an overcurrent or zero-crossing event — fast enough for most power-supply and sensor-threshold applications running below a few MHz.
Supply range, quiescent current, and temperature grade
Maximum quiescent current is 55 µA across both channels — low enough for battery-powered sensor nodes that wake periodically to check a threshold. Input bias current is 8 nA maximum at 5 V (0.008 µA), which keeps the voltage error small when the comparator is driven from a high-impedance source like a thermistor divider or a photodiode transimpedance amplifier. Common-mode rejection and power-supply rejection both spec at 100 dB typical, meaning the threshold accuracy holds up well when the input common-mode voltage moves or the supply rail droops under load — a useful margin in noisy industrial backplanes.
