SOT-23-6 comparator for tight signal chains
The MAX9030AUT+T is a single-channel general-purpose comparator in a 6-pin SOT-23 package (SOT-6 supplier device package). With a 228 ns maximum propagation delay, the comparator resolves a 5 mV overdrive in under a quarter-microsecond — fast enough for overcurrent detection in a 100 kHz switching converter or zero-crossing in a motor-drive phase comparator. The 4 mV internal hysteresis cleans up the transition through the threshold, preventing output chatter on a slowly moving input signal. Quiescent current maxes out at 55 µA, so the comparator adds negligible drain to a battery-powered sensor node that stays awake only to check a threshold. The 100 dB CMRR and 100 dB PSRR keep the threshold stable when the supply rail sags or the common-mode voltage shifts — a common headache when the comparator shares a rail with a switching regulator.
Parametric fit for threshold detection
Input bias current is 0.008 µA maximum at 5 V, so a 1 MΩ source resistor drops only 8 mV — the comparator does not load a high-impedance sensor output. The single-element layout in SOT-23-6 occupies roughly 9 mm² of board area — two of these side by side fit the footprint of a single SOIC-8 dual comparator, useful when the signal chain needs independent thresholds on separate supply rails.
