2 A adjustable LDO in a TSSOP-EP — what the ratings mean
The MAX8526EUD+T is a single-output positive adjustable LDO from Analog Devices / Maxim, rated for a continuous 2 A output with a maximum dropout voltage of 0.2 V at that full load. Input voltage tops out at 3.6 V. The adjustable output range spans 0.5 V to 3.4 V, set by an external resistor divider. Quiescent current sits at 440 µA. Enable control and over-temperature / short-circuit protection are on-chip. The 14-TSSOP exposed-pad package (0.173" body, 4.40 mm width) needs a thermal land on the PCB to dissipate the 2 A heat load; the exposed pad is the primary thermal path.
Package and thermal reality
The 14-TSSOP-EP is a surface-mount package with an exposed pad on the bottom. For a 2 A LDO, the exposed pad is not optional — it must be soldered to a copper land and via'd to an inner-layer plane to keep junction temperature within the -40°C to 85°C operating range. The supplier device package code is 14-TSSOP-EP; the footprint matches standard TSSOP-14 with an additional center pad. Cut Tape and Tape & Reel options are listed — both ship the same device, just different reel quantities for prototyping versus production.
Lifecycle and sourcing
ROHS3 compliant. For BOM planning, this part is not under end-of-life pressure.
