What this supervisor does on your board
The MAX816ESA+ is a single-channel voltage supervisor that holds the processor in reset until the supply rail has been stable for at least 140 ms. That 140 ms minimum timeout gives the power supply time to settle and the oscillator to start cleanly before the CPU fetches its first instruction. The reset outputs are push-pull, both active-high and active-low, so you can drive the reset pin of an MCU or FPGA directly without an external pull-up. The voltage threshold is adjustable or selectable via external resistors, which means you set the trip point to match the processor's minimum operating voltage.
Temperature grade and environment
Rated -40°C to 85°C ambient, which covers industrial control cabinets, outdoor telecom shelters, and under-hood automotive electronics (non-AEC). The storage temperature range exceeds the operating range, so the part can sit on a shelf in a hot warehouse or a cold truck without damage.
Lifecycle and sourcing
ROHS3 compliant, so it passes the current EU material restrictions without an exemption.
