4.65V threshold and 140ms timeout — the supervisory backbone
The MAX813LEPA+ monitors a single supply rail at 4.65V and asserts a reset output when the voltage dips below that threshold. The 140ms minimum reset timeout holds the microprocessor in reset long enough for the supply to stabilise after a brownout or power-up — a common gotcha when the processor wakes before the oscillator has settled. The reset output is active-high push-pull, so it drives a logic high when the monitored voltage is valid. This matters for processors or FPGAs that require a high-true reset — if your design expects an active-low signal, you will need an inverter or a different part in the MAX813 family.
Through-hole DIP for bench debug or rugged builds
Housed in an 8-pin PDIP (0.300-inch body), the MAX813LEPA+ is a through-hole part. That makes it a natural fit for prototyping boards, socketed test jigs, or products where vibration resistance and field-replaceability are secondary to ease of hand-assembly.
