The MAX7311AUG+T is a 16-bit I/O expander from Analog Devices, designed to add general-purpose digital I/O to a system over an I2C or SMBus serial interface. It operates at a clock frequency of 400 kHz, making it suitable for moderate-speed control and status monitoring tasks in embedded systems. Each of the 16 I/O pins can be individually configured as input or output, with push-pull outputs capable of sourcing 31 mA and sinking 43 mA per pin. This drive strength is enough to directly switch small loads like LEDs or signal relays without external buffers.

Interrupt output for event-driven polling
