Package and mounting
The MAX706TEPA+ from Analog Devices is a single-channel Simple Reset/Power-On Reset supervisor IC. It monitors a single voltage rail — threshold set at 3.08 V — and asserts an active-low reset signal to the downstream processor or logic when the rail drops below that threshold. The reset stays asserted for a minimum of 140 ms after the rail recovers, giving the system time to stabilize before the processor starts executing code. Output is push-pull, totem pole, so no external pull-up resistor is needed. Packaged in an 8-DIP through-hole package, it's a common replacement part on older or industrial boards where the scorch mark tells you the original supervisor took a hit from a brownout or a failing cap.
Temperature range and environment
Rated for -40°C to 85°C ambient, this part handles industrial environments — motor drives, outdoor telecom cabinets, factory automation panels — without needing a mil-spec part. The through-hole PDIP package is a plus for repair shops that prefer socketed replacements over soldering SMD parts.
