8-channel constant-current sink for signage and lighting
The Maxim MAX6970AAE+ is a linear LED driver IC built around a shift-register topology, delivering eight constant-current sink outputs at up to 55 mA per channel with a 36 V output compliance. The part is aimed at lighting and signage applications where multiple LEDs are switched in parallel from a serial data stream. Each channel's current is set by an external resistor, and the shift-register interface allows daisy-chaining multiple drivers on a single SPI-like bus — useful for large LED arrays or segmented signs where individual pixel control is needed. The 16-SSOP package (0.209" body width, 5.30 mm pitch) keeps the board footprint compact for dense channel layouts.
Temperature grade and deployment environment
Rated for -40°C to +125°C (TA).
