36-SSOP LED driver with I²C control
The MAX6955AAX+ is a multiplexed LED driver that handles 7-, 14-, or 16-segment displays over an I²C interface — one part serves numeric, alphanumeric, or custom-segment layouts without changing the BOM line. Housed in a 36-BSOP (0.295", 7.50 mm width) surface-mount package, also designated 36-SSOP, the footprint is a standard fine-pitch SOIC variant — hand-solderable with a fine tip or hot-air rework station, and the 0.025" lead pitch is within reach of a hobbyist's iron.
Supply current is 22 mA typical — the driver's own draw is low enough that a 100 mA LDO can power it alongside a small MCU and a handful of LEDs without exceeding the regulator's budget.
