LED matrix driver for 4-digit 5x7 displays
The MAX6952EAX+ is a dedicated LED matrix driver from Analog Devices that drives a 4-digit, 5 x 7 dot-matrix display. It sits in the display-driver subsystem of a panel or instrument, converting serial data from a host controller into the row and column currents that light the LEDs. Communication with the host uses a 4-wire serial interface, which keeps the board-level wiring to four signals — data in, clock, load, and data out — and daisy-chains cleanly across multiple drivers. The driver itself draws 12 mA typical from that rail, so the power budget for the driver IC is under 70 mW at 5.5 V — the LED current dominates the total dissipation.
Industrial temperature grade and 36-SSOP package
Housed in a 36-SSOP (7.50 mm body width, 0.295-inch pitch), the package is a surface-mount narrow-body SSOP. Supplied in a Tube, the parts arrive in an antistatic shipping tube that feeds directly into a pick-and-place feeder or a manual assembly station. Store the reels dry — the MSL rating for SSOP packages is typically MSL 1 or 2, but the tube itself is not a moisture-barrier bag.
