VFD driver with wide supply and serial control
The MAX6922AQH+TD from Analog Devices is a vacuum fluorescent (VF) display driver that takes a 4-wire serial input and drives the anodes and grids of a VFD tube. Its supply range of 8V to 76V covers the typical anode and filament bias voltages used in automotive dashboards, industrial panel meters, and appliance displays. The serial interface keeps the host MCU pin count low — three or four GPIOs are enough to control a multi-digit readout.
Supply current and temperature range
Quiescent supply current runs 1.65 mA, which is modest for a VFD driver and matters when the display is part of a battery-backed or thermally constrained assembly. The operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C covers under-hood automotive, outdoor industrial terminals, and engine-compartment instrumentation — places where a standard commercial-grade driver would drift or latch up.
Lifecycle and sourcing
The MAX6922AQH+TD carries an active lifecycle status and is ROHS3 compliant. No last-time-buy or obsolescence notice is in effect, so it remains a viable choice for both new designs and production replenishment.
