Supervisor in a tiny SC-70-4
The MAX6838XSD1+T is a single-channel Simple Reset/Power-On Reset supervisor in Analog Devices' SC-70-4 package. It monitors one voltage rail and asserts an active-low reset signal when the supply drops below the adjustable/selectable threshold, holding reset for a minimum of 1 ms after the rail recovers.
Reset polarity and output stage
Reset output is active low with a push-pull, totem-pole topology. This means the output drives both high and low without needing an external pull-up resistor — the signal stays valid even if the monitored rail is slow to rise, because the push-pull stage holds the reset line firmly to ground during the timeout period. The 1 ms minimum reset timeout is the guaranteed hold time after the supply crosses the threshold; the actual timeout may be longer, but the processor is held in reset for at least that window, long enough for most MCU oscillators to stabilise.
Package and board integration
Supplied in SC-82A / SOT-343 (SC-70-4), a 4-lead surface-mount package with a 1.25 mm pitch — it fits the same footprint as a small-signal transistor and can be hand-assembled or reflowed without special equipment.
