Single-cell battery monitor for portable designs
The Maxim Integrated MAX6775XKC+T is a battery monitor IC designed for single-cell applications, supporting multi-chemistry battery types including Li-ion, Li-Poly, NiMH, and alkaline. It monitors a single cell and provides a logic output that indicates when the battery voltage drops below a factory-trimmed threshold. The device is housed in a compact SC-70-5 package, making it suitable for space-constrained portable devices, handheld instruments, and battery-powered IoT nodes where board area is at a premium. Rated for the industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, the MAX6775XKC+T can be deployed in outdoor telecom equipment, portable medical monitors, and automotive cabin-zone modules where the ambient temperature swings with the seasons.
Active production — no LTB risk
It is ROHS3 compliant, meeting the current European Union restriction on hazardous substances. For a BOM line that needs a single-cell battery monitor in a small SC-70-5 footprint, this part is a low-risk, current-production choice that can be specified into new designs without worrying about near-term obsolescence.
What the multi-chemistry rating means for the BOM
The multi-chemistry support means the same MAX6775XKC+T can be used across product variants that switch between Li-ion and NiMH packs — no need to qualify a different monitor for each chemistry. The single-cell limit, however, is hard: if your design stacks cells in series, this part cannot monitor the stack voltage directly. For a 2S or higher pack, you would need a different monitor that handles multiple cells or a cell-balancing front-end.
