Two-channel temp monitor with integrated fan control
The Maxim Integrated MAX6639FATE+ is a dual-channel temperature monitor that combines an internal sensor with support for one external diode-connected transistor, covering a remote sensing range of 0°C to 150°C. It integrates an ADC, a PWM generator for fan-speed control, and a tachometer counter for closed-loop fan monitoring. The part communicates over I²C or SMBus, making it a direct fit for server, telecom, and industrial equipment where thermal management of a CPU, GPU, or power stage is required.
Accuracy that matters for closed-loop cooling
Local temperature accuracy is -2.5°C maximum; remote accuracy is ±1°C maximum.
3.3 V rail, I²C bus, PWM fan drive
Supply voltage runs from 3V to 3.6V. The I²C/SMBus interface handles standard bus speeds.
Package and rework — 16-TQFN with exposed pad
The part comes in a 16-TQFN (5x5 mm) with an exposed pad on the bottom. That pad needs a good thermal via pattern under it to pull heat into the board.
Active production, no obsolescence concern
For a BOM line that needs a dual temp monitor with fan control, this part is a current-design choice — not a legacy holdover.
