Product details

Charge-pump DC-DC for unipolar-to-bipolar or voltage doubling

The MAX660CSA+ is a charge-pump voltage converter that delivers up to 100 mA from a single output, configurable as either a negative rail (-Vin) or a doubled positive rail (2×Vin) relative to the input.

Switching frequency and output ripple trade-off

Two switching frequencies are selectable: 10 kHz for lower quiescent current and reduced switching loss, or 80 kHz for smaller external capacitors and lower output ripple. At 80 kHz, the flying capacitor can be 10 µF instead of 100 µF at 10 kHz — a meaningful size reduction for space-constrained designs, though the higher frequency increases the charge-pump's own supply current. There is no synchronous rectifier on the output; the Schottky diode forward drop (typically 0.4–0.5 V at 100 mA) sets a floor on efficiency, especially at low input voltages where the drop is a larger fraction of the output.

It is suited for indoor bench equipment, consumer electronics, and telecom indoor racks, but not for outdoor, under-hood, or industrial floor environments without active temperature control. Supplied in Tube packaging — not tape-and-reel. For automated pick-and-place lines, verify the feeder compatibility or request a reeled variant; the Tube format is common for low-volume or prototype procurement.

Lifecycle and compliance status

ROHS3 Compliant per the manufacturer, meeting current EU RoHS exemption rules.
