Threshold voltage and reset behaviour
The MAX6378XR46+T is a single-channel voltage detector with a 4.63 V threshold — this is the voltage at the monitored rail where the device asserts a reset. For a 5 V supply rail, the threshold sits at roughly 92.6 % of nominal, which means it catches a brownout before the downstream logic enters an undefined state. The reset output is active-low with a push-pull, totem-pole stage. No external pull-up resistor is needed on the reset line — the output drives high when the supply is above the threshold and pulls low when it drops below. This saves a resistor on the board and keeps the reset signal rail-to-rail.
Package, temperature grade, and board fit
Housed in a SC-70-3 (SOT-323) package, the device occupies minimal board area — roughly 2.0 × 2.1 mm. The three-pin footprint (VCC, GND, RESET) routes easily on a two-layer board. The supplier device package is SC-70-3, which is the standard Analog Devices code for this leadframe. It covers most indoor and outdoor equipment that does not sit under a vehicle hood — telecom line cards, base station controllers, industrial PLCs, and HVAC controllers all fall within this band.
Lifecycle and compliance
ROHS3 compliant per the manufacturer's declaration, so it meets the current EU restriction levels for lead and other substances. The TR option is the standard reel for automated pick-and-place; CT is useful for prototyping or small-batch builds where a full reel is not justified.
