Buried-zener reference for precision 5V rails
The MAX6350CSA+T is a series buried-zener voltage reference from Analog Devices, delivering a fixed 5V output with ±0.02% initial tolerance and a temperature coefficient of 1ppm/°C. The buried-zener topology keeps noise low — 3µVp-p from 0.1 Hz to 10 Hz and 2.5µVrms from 10 Hz to 10 kHz — making it suitable for precision ADC references, weigh-scale bridges, and calibration sources. Input voltage range is 8V to 36V, with a 3.3mA supply current and 15mA output drive capability. The 8-SOIC package fits a standard footprint, and the part is ROHS3 compliant.
The 1ppm/°C drift means the output voltage shifts less than 5µV per degree Celsius — critical when the reference shares a board with a 16-bit or 24-bit ADC that sees a 10°C swing. The 3µVp-p noise in the 0.1 Hz to 10 Hz band sets the noise floor for DC measurements; a 5V reference with 3µVp-p noise gives roughly 21 effective bits of resolution before the ADC's own noise. The 15mA output current can drive multiple ADC reference inputs or a small resistive divider without an external buffer. The 3.3mA supply current is the quiescent draw — the reference itself adds little to the system power budget.
Active production — ordering and package form
It is supplied in Tape & Reel (TR) or Cut Tape (CT) format, which suits both prototype builds and reel-fed production lines. The 8-SOIC package is a standard surface-mount footprint with 0.154-inch body width.
