What this reset monitor does
The Maxim Integrated MAX6315US30D2+T is a simple reset/power-on reset IC that monitors a single supply rail and asserts a reset signal when the voltage drops below a 3V threshold. The reset output is active-low, open-drain — meaning it pulls low when triggered and requires an external pull-up resistor to hold the line high during normal operation. The minimum reset timeout of 20ms gives the system regulator and oscillator time to stabilize before the processor starts executing code. Rated for -40°C to 125°C, this part fits into automotive under-hood, industrial motor-drive, or outdoor telecom equipment where the ambient temperature swings wide.
3V threshold — what it means for the rail
The 3V threshold is set for a 3.0V nominal supply rail, not a 3.3V rail. If your system runs on 3.3V, this part will assert reset at 3V.
Open-drain output — wiring note
Because the output is open-drain, you must add a pull-up resistor to hold the RST line high during normal operation. The SOT-143-4 package is a compact surface-mount footprint.
Lifecycle and sourcing
No end-of-life notice or last-time-buy schedule is in effect, so it is safe to design into new BOMs today.
