Rated for 500 mA continuous output, the MAX629ESA+ can supply moderate loads like an op-amp rail or a small display bias. The 300 kHz fixed switching frequency keeps external inductor and capacitor sizes small — a 10 µH to 47 µH inductor and a low-ESR ceramic output cap are typical for most designs. No synchronous rectifier is integrated, so the external Schottky diode's forward voltage and thermal handling set the efficiency ceiling. In a boost configuration from 3.3 V to 12 V at 100 mA, expect efficiency in the low 80s percent with a good Schottky.
