Low-side driver with 2 A peak output for N- and P-channel MOSFETs
The MAX627CSA+T is a low-side gate driver from Analog Devices, designed to drive both N-channel and P-channel MOSFETs with independent channel control. Its 2 A peak source and sink current capability means it can charge and discharge the gate capacitance of medium-power MOSFETs quickly, keeping switching losses in check during hard-switched transitions. The non-inverting input type simplifies the control interface — a logic high on the input turns the output on.
Switching speed and timing margins
Typical rise and fall times are 25 ns and 20 ns respectively. For a MOSFET with a total gate charge Qg of, say, 30 nC, the 2 A peak output delivers a 15 ns effective gate-drive current pulse — the rise time spec sets the upper bound on switching frequency before crossover losses dominate. The 8-SOIC package has a junction-to-ambient thermal resistance around 120 °C/W; at 2 A peak and 100 kHz switching, the package dissipation stays manageable for ambient temperatures up to 70 °C. Operating temperature is rated 0 °C to 70 °C — this is the commercial grade. The part is suited for bench equipment, telecom line cards, and industrial control panels where the ambient stays within that window. For extended-temperature or automotive environments, a different grade would be needed.

The tape-and-reel packaging option supports automated pick-and-place assembly for production volumes, while cut-tape availability suits prototype or low-quantity builds.
