Boost converter for multi-rail boards
The MAX618EEE+ is a current-mode step-up (boost) DC-DC regulator from Analog Devices, designed to generate a higher adjustable output voltage from a lower input rail. It switches at 250 kHz and integrates a 1.4 A rated switch, so the output power ceiling is set by the input voltage and the inductor's saturation current, not by an external FET. Input range spans 3 V to 28 V, covering single-cell Li-ion up to a 24 V industrial bus. Output is adjustable from 3 V up to 28 V via a resistor divider, with positive polarity only — no inverting or SEPIC topology here.
Package and board-fit
Supplied in a 16-lead SSOP (0.154-inch body width, 3.90 mm) and also listed under the supplier device package as 16-QSOP — the two are the same footprint with a slightly different body width (QSOP is nominally 3.90 mm wide, matching the SSOP-16). The surface-mount package suits medium-density boards where a small inductor and a few ceramic caps fit alongside. Shipping in tube format, not tape-and-reel — factor this into pick-and-place setup if your line expects reeled parts; a tube-to-reel transfer may be needed for high-volume assembly.
ROHS3 compliant (no exempted substances), so no sunset risk on the RoHS exemption calendar. Not AEC-Q100 qualified — not intended for under-hood or chassis-mounted automotive designs.
