Precision 2.5V reference for ADC/DAC bias and sensor excitation
The MAX6166AESA+T is a 2.5 V series voltage reference from Analog Devices, delivering a fixed output with ±0.08% initial accuracy and a 5 ppm/°C temperature coefficient. This combination makes it suited for biasing precision ADCs and DACs where the reference drift directly sets the system's full-scale error over temperature. Output is rated for 5 mA continuous, enough to drive the reference input of multiple converters or an external buffer without loading the bandgap core.
Noise floor and drift over the industrial temperature band
For a 16-bit ADC with a 2.5 V reference, the 0.1–10 Hz noise contributes roughly 0.44 LSB p-p — below the quantization floor, so the ADC's own noise dominates the channel. The 5 ppm/°C drift means the output shifts by roughly 1.6 mV over the full 125°C range — within a 0.5 LSB error budget for a 12-bit system at 2.5 V full-scale.
Package, compliance, and sourcing posture
Housed in an 8-SOIC (3.90 mm width) package with surface-mount footprint. Supplied on Tape & Reel (TR) or Cut Tape (CT) for pick-and-place assembly. RoHS3 compliant per the manufacturer's declaration.
