Precision 5V rail for ADC/DAC biasing
The MAX6165AESA+ is a series voltage reference from Analog Devices, delivering a fixed 5V output with an initial tolerance of ±0.04% and a temperature coefficient of 5 ppm/°C. This level of stability makes it suitable for biasing precision ADCs, DACs, and sensor signal chains where the reference drift directly sets the system accuracy floor.
Input headroom and load drive
The input range spans 5.2V to 12.6V, so the reference needs at least 200 mV of dropout above the 5V output. At the output side, it can source or sink up to 5 mA — enough to bias a handful of ADC reference inputs or an external buffer, but not a heavy load. The 120 µA quiescent supply current keeps the power budget lean in battery-powered or thermally constrained designs.
Noise floor and spectral bands
For a 5V output, the peak-to-peak low-frequency noise is about 12 ppm of the reference voltage — a figure that keeps the effective resolution of a 16-bit ADC from being noise-limited by the reference.
