Precision 3V reference for ADC/DAC bias and instrumentation
The MAX6163BESA+ is a 3V series voltage reference from Analog Devices, delivering a fixed 3V output with ±0.17% initial accuracy and a 10ppm/°C temperature coefficient — tight enough to bias a 16-bit SAR ADC without an external trim pot.
Supply headroom and load drive
Input voltage range spans 3.2V to 12.6V — the reference regulates from a 3.3V rail with only 200 mV dropout, or from a 5V or 12V supply without an extra LDO. Output current is rated 5 mA, sufficient to bias the reference input of multiple ADCs or a precision DAC while the reference itself draws only 120 µA quiescent supply current.
Housed in an 8-SOIC package (0.154" width, 3.90 mm), the MAX6163BESA+ uses the standard SOIC-8 footprint common on mixed-signal boards — no special pad pattern needed. The series reference topology (no external resistor divider) means the output voltage is set by the internal bandgap and laser-trimmed resistor network — the ±0.17% tolerance is the total accuracy at 25°C, including initial set-point and package shift.
ROHS3 compliant, and the tube packaging is the standard factory option for this 8-SOIC part.
