The MAX6126A25+T is a 2.5V precision series voltage reference from Analog Devices, delivering a fixed output with ±0.06% initial tolerance. That 0.06% figure means the output sits at 2.5V ±1.5 mV at 25°C — tight enough for a 14-bit ADC without external trimming, assuming the reference input error budget is under 1 LSB. For a precision measurement chain this tempco is the dominant error term after initial calibration; the 3ppm figure keeps the reference stable enough that the system calibration interval is set by the ADC's own drift, not the reference.
Noise floor and load regulation
The output can source up to 10 mA, enough to bias the ADC reference input and a small buffer without a separate follower. Supply current is 725 µA typical, which means the reference's own draw is negligible against the system power budget in a battery-powered instrument.
