Product details

2.048V fixed reference in a three-pin SOT-23

The MAX6106EUR+T is a series voltage reference from Analog Devices that outputs a fixed 2.048V with ±0.4% initial tolerance. That tolerance is tight enough to serve as the reference for a 12-bit SAR ADC without an external trim pot — the ADC's INL error won't be the reference's fault. It sources up to 5 mA of output current, which covers the reference input of most ADCs and the bias rail of a small sensor bridge. The 125 µA quiescent supply current means it won't dominate the power budget in a battery-powered design running from a 3V rail. For a 12-bit system with a 2.048V reference, that's roughly 3.7 LSBs of drift over temperature, which is acceptable for most industrial sensor interfaces but worth derating if the board sees the full 125°C swing.

Noise floor and bench behaviour

The input voltage range is 2.5V to 12.6V, giving plenty of headroom above the 2.048V output. A 3.3V rail works fine; a 5V rail gives margin for the dropout. The series topology means the load current comes from the input, not a buried-zener current source, so the supply current stays flat across the load range.
