The MAX608ESA+T is a step-up (boost) PWM controller from Analog Devices, designed for applications requiring a regulated output voltage higher than the input supply. Supply range and switching frequency
The controller accepts a supply voltage (Vcc/Vdd) from 1.8 V to 16.5 V, covering single-cell Li-ion through multi-cell alkaline or sealed lead-acid battery rails. The switching frequency operates up to 300 kHz, which balances external inductor and capacitor size against switching losses for typical portable loads. With a single output phase and positive output configuration, the MAX608ESA+T drives an external transistor (Transistor Driver output type) and does not include an internal synchronous rectifier — the designer selects the external MOSFET and Schottky diode based on the output current and voltage requirements.
Temperature grade and control interface
An Enable control feature allows the controller to be shut down under firmware or logic control, pulling the quiescent current to near zero for battery conservation during idle periods. No clock synchronization input is provided, so the switching frequency free-runs at the internal oscillator rate.
