Boost controller for single-rail designs
The MAX608ESA+ is a current-mode PWM boost controller IC from Analog Devices, designed for step-up DC-DC conversion where an external transistor handles the power stage. Its 1.8 V to 16.5 V supply range means it can start from a single lithium cell or a regulated 3.3 V rail and generate a higher output voltage for loads like LCD bias, sensor supplies, or local power rails.
What the ratings mean for your BOM
With a Transistor Driver output and no synchronous rectifier, the external FET and diode selection determines the efficiency curve — the controller itself handles the PWM loop and fault protection. The Enable control pin lets a system supervisor or GPIO gate the converter on and off, cutting quiescent draw when the boosted rail is not needed.
Supplied in Tube packaging, it is ready for hand-assembly or low-volume pick-and-place with a tube feeder.
ROHS3 compliant, with no exemptions that would restrict EU or California market use.
