What this regulator is and where it fits
The Maxim Integrated MAX604CSA+T is a positive-output linear voltage regulator delivering up to 500 mA. It operates from an input up to 11.5 V and can be configured as either an adjustable regulator (output from 1.25 V to 11 V) or a fixed 3.3 V regulator via pin-strapping. With a quiescent current of 35 µA, it suits battery-powered or always-on auxiliary rails where every microamp matters. The 8-SOIC package and surface-mount footprint fit compact PCBs in consumer electronics, office equipment, and other indoor, temperature-controlled environments (0°C to 70°C).
Protection features that matter in production
Over-current, over-temperature, and reverse-polarity protection are built in. The reverse-polarity clamp is the one that saves a board when a power connector is wired backward — common in prototype and rework. The enable pin (active-high) lets a system microcontroller gate the rail for sequencing or power-down sequencing without an external load switch.
Lifecycle and supply posture
The MAX604CSA+T carries an active lifecycle status and is ROHS3 compliant. No last-time-buy pressure; the part is safe to specify for new designs within its commercial temperature range.
